East vs. West: Why Natural Beauty Works Better (and Costs Less) Than Your Med Spa Habits Over a Lifetime

What if the secret to radiant, youthful skin isn't in a syringe — and never was?

Most women will spend $50,000 or more on Botox over a lifetime. On a result that lasts three months. That doesn't touch why their skin is aging.

The Glow From Within series is a different approach. Five classes rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, somatic body awareness, qigong, and evidence-based nutrition — taught by Dr. Sinéad Corrigan, LAc., DACM (Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine) and somatic movement edaucator.

This is the foundational education I give every cosmetic acupuncture client who sits across from me.

Now, it's open to everyone.

COURSE MODULES

✦Class 1: The Living Face — TCM face mapping for emotional and physical health

Learn to “read” your own face - signs of physical and emotional imbalance - and what to do about it. Your face is a map. Every line, every tension pattern, every dullness or glow is telling the story of your emotional life. In this 75-minute class, we explore the TCM face-body map, the science of how chronic emotional patterns physically age the face, and the somatic and qigong practices that begin to soften those patterns from the inside out.

✦Class 2: Your Home Beauty Ritual — gua sha, facial qigong, non-toxic skincare essentials

Learn practical at-home routines and products to optimize your natural beauty. Skip the $300 serums. This class gives you a complete, TCM-rooted home beauty practice — gua sha technique, facial qigong, lymphatic self-massage, and the non-toxic product essentials worth your money. Come with your gua sha tool. Leave with a ritual.

✦Class 3: The Natural Face Lift — how cosmetic acupuncture works and what results to expect

Learn all about cosmetic acupuncture - what conditions it can and cannot treat, how long it takes to see results, and more. Everything you've wondered about cosmetic acupuncture — answered. The science, the TCM theory, what a real 8–12 session series feels like, realistic result timelines, how it compares to med spa alternatives, and how to book.  Bring your questions!

✦Class 4: Foods to Age Backwards — collagen enhancing foods, beauty supplements + herbs, & dietary guidelines

Learn how to nourish your skin from within utilizing diet, herbs, supplements, and mindset around food and nourishment. The top evidence-backed supplements for skin health, the foods that accelerate aging (and those that reverse it), TCM dietary principles for radiant skin, and how to build a beauty nutrition protocol that works for your constitution.

✦ Class 5: Preserve Your Yin — hormones, aging, and ancient wisdom beauty secrets

Learn about the Chinese Medicine concept of “yin”, and why it is the number one thing you need to preserve for youth + energy. The capstone class. How declining estrogen and other hormones manifest on the face, the TCM concept of yin deficiency, and the complete lifestyle, herbal, dietary, and somatic protocol for preserving your vital essence. Closes with a kidney-nourishing qigong practice.

About Dr. Sinéad

Dr. Sinéad Corrigan is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, licensed acupuncturist, somatic movement educator, and qigong teacher with 15+ years of practice. She sees patients in Chapel Hill, NC and Kauai, HI, and has taught hundreds of students the art of listening to their body's intelligence.

Her approach to beauty is the same as her approach to healing: whole-body, rooted in ancient wisdom, and deeply personal. The Glow From Within series is that philosophy made practical.

If you're in the Chapel Hill or North Raleigh area, I'd love to invite you to explore a private cosmetic acupuncture package — where everything in this series is customized entirely to you.

FAQs for class series

Can I take individual classes, or do I need to buy the full series?

1

Both options are available. Each class is available as a $47 drop-in — links to register are next to each class description above. The full five-class series is available at the Founding Member price of $127 (saving $108 versus buying individually). Founding member pricing is the lowest this series will ever be offered — once the live series closes, recordings will be available as an on-demand course at a higher rate.

How does this series support my overall health, not just my skin?

2

Is this series only for women?

Everything in this series is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and somatic body awareness — which means beauty is always treated as an expression of internal health, never a surface-level fix. The gua sha and facial qigong practices in Class 2 support lymphatic function and nervous system regulation. The nutrition guidance in Class 4 reduces systemic inflammation. The hormonal and yin-preservation protocol in Class 5 supports energy, sleep, libido, and mood alongside skin health. And the qigong practices woven throughout the series connect you to the living intelligence of your body — which is the philosophy behind everything I teach at Inner Body Data.

5

Do I need to live near Chapel Hill or Kaua’i to take this series?

3

No — all five classes are held live on Zoom and open to everyone, anywhere. The Glow From Within series was designed to bring the education I give in-person cosmetic acupuncture clients at my Chapel Hill and Kaua’i clinics to a wider community. That said, if you are in the Chapel Hill, NC or Kaua’i area and want to take your results further with a private cosmetic acupuncture series, I'd love to work with you in person. Founding members of this series are eligible for a discounted private consultation.

Will there be replays if I can't attend live?

4

Yes. Every live class is recorded and the replay will be emailed to participants with a 60-day expiration. Those who have joined the full series, each video will be added to your course library within 48 hours. Founding members have lifetime access to all recordings. Keep in mind, attending live gives you the Q&A portion of each class — which is where a lot of the most practical, personalized guidance happens.

Not at all — the principles of TCM skincare, cosmetic acupuncture, gua sha, and holistic anti-aging apply to everyone. The series does address hormonal aging in Class 5 with a focus on estrogen and yin depletion, which is most relevant to women navigating perimenopause and menopause, but the tools in every class are universal. Men interested in natural skin health, non-toxic beauty, and the somatic and qigong practices behind radiant aging are very welcome.

FAQs about Cosmetic Acupuncture

I'm interested in private cosmetic acupuncture — how do I know if I'm a good candidate?

1

The best candidates for a private cosmetic acupuncture series are people who are committed to a series of 8–12 weekly or bi-weekly sessions, who want a whole-body approach to skin health, and who are willing to support their results with lifestyle and dietary practices. I see patients in Chapel Hill, NC and North Raleigh. Class 3 of this series covers candidacy, contraindications, what to expect session by session, and how to book. Founding members are also eligible for a discounted private consultation — see the offer above.

What is cosmetic acupuncture, and how does it work?

2

Cosmetic acupuncture — sometimes called a natural face lift or facial acupuncture — is a Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment that uses ultra-fine needles placed in specific points on the face and body to stimulate collagen production, increase local circulation, lift and tone facial muscles, reduce fine lines, and address puffiness, uneven texture, and skin dullness. Unlike Botox or fillers, cosmetic acupuncture works with your body's own healing intelligence. Each session also includes body points that treat the underlying constitutional imbalances contributing to how your skin ages — so the results affect your whole system, not just your face.

5

How is this different from Botox, fillers, or other med spa treatments?

3

Botox temporarily paralyzes muscles to reduce wrinkle movement — it doesn't build anything, and results fade every 3–4 months, requiring lifelong maintenance. Dermal fillers inject synthetic substances that can migrate over time. Most people will spend $30,000–$50,000 on these treatments over a lifetime with no cumulative benefit. Cosmetic acupuncture, gua sha, and the holistic beauty practices in this series work by building collagen, improving lymphatic drainage, balancing hormones, and addressing the root causes of aging in Chinese medicine — including qi stagnation, blood deficiency, and yin depletion. The results are cumulative and support your overall health simultaneously.

What results can I realistically expect from a cosmetic acupuncture series?

4

Most clients begin noticing changes — brighter complexion, reduced puffiness, improved skin texture — within the first 3–5 sessions of a private cosmetic acupuncture series. A full series of 8–12 weekly or bi-weekly sessions typically produces visible reduction in fine lines, improved facial tone and lift, and a more rested, luminous appearance. Results are gradual and cumulative, which is what makes them lasting. Class 3 of this series covers result timelines, realistic expectations, and exactly what a private series looks like — so you can decide if it's the right next step for you.

What is "preserving yin" and why does it matter for aging skin?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, yin is the cool, moistening, nourishing force that keeps our tissues plump, hydrated, and vital. As we age — particularly after 35 and through perimenopause and menopause — yin naturally declines. On the face, yin deficiency looks like dryness, fine lines, dullness, thinning skin, and loss of plumpness. It's the Chinese medicine explanation for what Western medicine attributes to declining estrogen and collagen. Class 5 covers the complete protocol for preserving yin through herbs, diet, lifestyle, nervous system regulation, and somatic practice — and closes with a kidney-nourishing qigong sequence you can use immediately.
